GENERAL
1. Eko Yuli IRAWAN (INA) won host Indonesia’s fifth gold medal today in the 2018 Asian Games. It is the first time since 1998 that Indonesia has won at least five gold medals at a single Asian Games, when the NOC won six.
2. LIU Xiang (CHN) set a world record time of 26.98 in the women's 50m backstroke. She is only the second swimmer in the last 60 years to set a world record in any swimming event at the Asian Games, after Kosuke KITAJIMA (JPN) in the men's 200m breaststroke in 2002.
3. SUN Yang (CHN) equalled the record of eight gold medals for a Chinese swimmer at the Asian Games, becoming the first male swimmer to do so. His total of 12 medals at the Asian Games also equalled the record for a Chinese swimmer, set by TANG Yi (CHN) between 2006 and 2014.
4. Rikako IKEE (JPN) won her fourth gold medal. She is the first Japanese female athlete to win at least four gold medals at a single Asian Games since Hiromi ISOZAKI (athletics) and Kaori YANASE (swimming) won four gold medals in 1982.
5. Swimmer Naito EHARA (JPN) claimed the 1,000th silver medal for Japan in Asian Games history, in the men’s 400m freestyle event.
6. Lebanon’s shooting team won gold in the trap mixed team event to give the NOC its fifth gold medal in Asian Games history. Weightlifters Kheir TARABULSI (75kg, 1978) and Issam EL HOMSI (110kg, 1986) also won gold, along with Anouti MOHAMMED in the bodybuilding heavyweight event (1986) and Jean Claude RABBATH in the athletics high jump event (2006).
7. China (60, G30-S18-B12) leads the medal table after the third day of medal events at the 2018 Asian Games, ahead of Japan (47, G12-S17-B18) and Republic of Korea (34, G8-S12-B14).


BADMINTON
1. Men’s team
Japan claimed its third medal in this event after winning the bronze medal in both 1966 and 1970.
2. Chinese Taipei won its second medal in a row in this event after a bronze in 2014. Before 2014, Chinese Taipei had only won one medal in any team event, in the men's team event in 1966.


SEPEDA GUNUNG
1. Women's cross-country
YAO Bianwa (CHN) won her first Asian Games medal with gold in this event. China has won all five gold medals in women’s cross country at the Asian Games.
2. Men's cross-country: Kirill KAZANTSEV (KAZ) won Kazakhstan's first medal in cycling mountain bike at the Asian Games. The NOC had previously won medals in cycling road (11) and cycling track (10).


ANGGAR
1. Women’s individual epee
KANG Youngmi (KOR) won the fourth gold medal for Republic of Korea in the women's individual epee at the Asian Games, surpassing China (3) as the NOC with the most golds in the event.
2. SUN Yiwen (CHN) won silver to continue China’s record as the only NOC to have won a medal in the women's individual epee at every edition of the Asian Games when the event was held (1990, 1998-2018).
3. Men’s individual foil: HUANG Mengkai (CHN) won China’s 25th gold medal in men's fencing events, surpassing Republic of Korea (24) as the NOC with most gold medals in men's fencing.
4. Before CHOI Nicholas Edward (silver) and CHEUNG Ka Long (bronze) won medals for Hong Kong, China today, the NOC’s only medal in this event was the silver for CHEUNG Siu Lun at the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games. Hong Kong, China had never previously claimed two medals in a specific fencing event at a single Asian Games.


SEPAKTAKRAW
1. Men’s team
India won bronze and collected its first medal in sepaktakraw in Asian Games history.
2. Indonesia also won bronze, its ninth medal in sepaktakraw (G0-S0-B9). Indonesia is the NOC with most sepaktakraw medals without winning gold or silver.

1. Men's 10m air pistol
At age 16 years and 101 days, Saurabh CHAUDHARY (IND) became the youngest gold medallist in shooting at the Asian Games, since Thanyalak CHOTPHIBUNSIN (THA) won gold in the women's team event in 2006 at age 16 years and 14 days.
2. Men's 50m rifle 3 positions: Sanjeev RAJPUT (IND) became the third athlete from India to claim a shooting medal at four different Asian Games, after Mansher SINGH and Manavjit SINGH SANDHU. RAJPUT took bronze in 2006, silver in 2010 and bronze in 2014, all in team events.
3. Trap mixed team: Lebanon claimed its fifth gold medal at the Asian Games ever and its first since Jean Claude RABBATH won the men's high jump in 2006. It was also the fourth medal for Lebanon in 2018, a new record total for the NOC at a single Asian Games.


RENANG
1. General
The silver won by KIM Seoyeong (KOR) in the women’s 400m individual medley was the first gold or silver medal in swimming at the 2018 Asian Games not to be won by China or Japan.
2. SUN Yang (CHN) equalled the record of eight gold medals for a Chinese swimmer at the Asian Games, becoming the first male swimmer to do so. His total of 12 medals at the Asian Games also equalled the record for a Chinese swimmer, set by TANG Yi (CHN) between 2006 and 2014.

4. Women’s 50m backstroke: LIU Xiang (CHN) set a new world record time of 26.98 in the women's 50m backstroke. She became only the second swimmer in the last 60 years to set a world record in any swimming event at the Asian Games, after Kosuke KITAJIMA (JPN) in the men's 200m breaststroke in 2002.
5. Natsumi SAKAI (JPN) claimed bronze, adding to her gold medal in the women's 4x100m freestyle relay and silver in the women's 200m backstroke. She is the first athlete at the 2018 Asian Games to complete the medal set.
6. Men’s 50m freestyle: YU Hexin (CHN) took gold for China, which has now won the gold medal in this event at five of the eight previous Asian Games this event was held, including the last three.
7. Women’s 400m individual medley: Yui OHASHI (JPN) ended China's winning streak of four in this event at the Asian Games. Japan has now won this event four times and for the first time since 1998, when Yasuko TAJIMA was victorious.
8. Men’s 200m breaststroke: Yasuhiro KOSEKI (JPN) won gold to hand Japan its 14th gold medal out of the 18 gold medals in this event at the Asian Games.
9. Women’s 100m butterfly: Rikako IKEE (JPN) won her fourth gold medal. She is the first Japanese female athlete to win at least four gold medals at a single Asian Games since Hiromi ISOZAKI (athletics) and Kaori YANASE (swimming) won four gold medals in 1982.
10. Men’s 400m freestyle: SUN Yang (CHN) won his eighth gold medal at the Asian Games, equalling the record for a Chinese swimmer at the Games. XU Yanwei (CHN) also won eight gold medals in swimming events from 2002 (5) to 2006 (3).
11. Naito EHARA (JPN) claimed the 1,000th silver medal for Japan in Asian Games history.
12. Women’s 4x200m freestyle relay: China has now won the women's 4x200m freestyle relay at each of the six Asian Games this event was held, with Japan taking silver on each occasion.
13. SZE Hang Yu (HKG) won her eighth medal at the Asian Games, the most by athletes representing Hong Kong, China across all sports. All of SZE's eight medals were bronze. She is the third athlete to claim at least eight medals at the Asian Games without ever winning gold or silver, after HAN Kyu Chul (KOR, 11 bronze in swimming) and Lukman NIODE (INA, 8 bronze in swimming).


TAEKWONDO
1. Women’s -57kg
Pauline Louise LOPEZ (PHI) took bronze in this event, the 28th medal in taekwondo for Philippines at the Asian Games (G0-S4-B24). Only one NOC has won more medals in a sport without winning gold - Indonesia with 36 medals in swimming.
2. Women’s +67kg: The silver medal achieved by Cansel DENIZ (KAZ) was Kazakhstan's 14th medal in taekwondo at the Asian Games. The NOC has not, however, won gold in this sport. It equalled its record number of total medals in a specific sport without winning gold. The NOC has also achieved 14 medals in artistic gymnastics without claiming gold.
3. Men's +80 kg: Saeid RAJABI (IRI) gave Iran its 43rd medal in taekwondo, surpassing its boxing total (42). It has only won more Asian Games medals in wrestling (141) and weightlifting (79).
Hamza KATTAN (JOR) won bronze for Jordan. The NOC’s men have won a taekwondo medal at every Asian Games where the event has been contested, with the exception of 2014.


POLO AIR
1. General
China, Kazakhstan and Japan have now been together on the podium in seven of the last nine water polo tournaments at the Asian Games (men/women).
2. Women’s team: China won its third gold in the third women's water polo tournament to be held at the Asian Games (2010-2018). It is the third time China has won the first three women's team ball sport events held at the Asian Games, after the women's football (1990-1998) and women's softball (1990-1998).


ANGKAT BERAT
1. General
Hidilyn DIAZ (PHI) became the first weightlifter from Philippines to win gold. The NOC had won eight medals in this sport without claiming gold.
2. Men's 62kg: Eko Yuli IRAWAN (INA) won Indonesia's first gold medal in weightlifting at the Asian Games. Indonesia also won its first gold medal in mountain bike and taekwondo at these Games.
3. Women’s 53kg: Hidilyn DIAZ (PHI) won Philippines's first gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games, matching the NOC’s total from 2014, when Danny CALUAG won the men's BMX event.
Kristina SHERMETOVA (TKM) won Turkmenistan's first medal at the 2018 Asian Games. The NOC’s only other weightlifting medal was won by Altimurat ORAZDURDYEV, who took gold in the men's 76kg event in 1994.


GULAT
1. Women’s freestyle 68kg
ZHOU Feng (CHN) became the second athlete to win two gold medals in women's wrestling at the Asian Games after Saori YOSHIDA (JPN), who won four.
2. Meerim ZHUMANAZAROVA (KGZ) claimed Kyrgyzstan’s fifth medal in women's wrestling at the Asian Games, the most for Kyrgyzstan’s women in a single sport, surpassing athletics (4).
3. Men’s Greco-Roman 60kg: Shinobu OTA (JPN) claimed Japan’s fourth gold medal in this event, surpassing Republic of Korea (3) to become the NOC with most gold medal wins in the event at the Asian Games.
4. Men’s Greco-Roman 67kg: RYU Hansu (KOR) won his second gold medal at the Asian Games, after his gold in the men's Greco-Roman 66kg event in 2014. He is the seventh wrestler from Republic of Korea to win two gold medals in Greco-Roman events at the Asian Games and the first since KIM In-Sub (60kg in 1998, 66kg in 2002).
5. Amantur ISMAILOV (KGZ) won the sixth medal for Kyrgyzstan in wrestling at the 2018 Asian Games, equalling the NOC’s record for most total wrestling medals at a single Asian Games. That record was set at the Doha 2006 Asian Games.


WUSHU
1. Men's daoshu & gunshu all-round
WU Zhaohua (CHN) became the youngest medallist in this event by winning gold at age 19 years and 353 days.
2. Achmad HULAEFI (INA) claimed Indonesia's third medal in wushu at the 2018 Asian Games, equalling the NOC's record number in the sport set in 2014.
3. Women's jianshu & qiangshu all-round: Thuy Vi DUONG (VIE) took bronze after winning gold in this event in 2014. She is the first woman from Vietnam to win multiple medals in wushu.
4. Men's nanquan & nangun all-round: Junhua HUANG (MAC) won Macau, China's second gold medal at the Asian Games across all sports, after JIA Rui won the men's daoshu & gunshu all-round in 2010.
